Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets has been on TPG’s radar since the property opened in 2023. The Impression brand — a luxury, adults-only offshoot of Hyatt’s all-inclusive brand Secrets — had already made an excellent impression on one of our directors when she visited Impression Moxche by Secrets, the first Impression resort, a couple of years ago.
So when I had the chance to experience the brand’s Isla Mujeres outpost in Mexico, just off the coast of buzzy Cancun, I leapt at the opportunity.
Here’s what it’s like staying at Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets, and how to use Hyatt points to book this luxurious adults-only, all-inclusive resort.

What it’s like at Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets
Being whisked away on a property-exclusive catamaran from Marina Hacienda del Mar is the dream scenario guests will find themselves in as they journey toward Isla Mujeres, a short 45-minute boat ride from Cancun. Inclusive of a full bar and butler service, the boat ride is a good indication of what’s to come once you reach the resort’s long and winding dock.

The arrival is a convivial affair, with friendly staff members waiting on the docks to greet guests with warm smiles and a refreshing drink. From here, it’s easy to see that the property is everything luxury beachside vacation dreams are made of.

From the docks, guests can look up to admire the design-forward hotel, with the woven domed rooftop and undulating exterior complementing the cascade of greenery around the property. Combine this with the turquoise waters that surround Isla Mujeres, and you’ve got quite the idyllic scene.

To get to the check-in desks, guests walk up several sets of stairs (there is an accessible elevator option, too) that wind past multiple ocean-facing pools before passing through a set of stunning archways into an open-air hall. Here, under cavernous domed ceilings and warm, calming lights, the breeze feels fresh and the smiles from the staff are plentiful. If you aren’t yet in a state of total relaxation before check-in, you will be as soon as you ascend the stairs to your suite — because yes, Impression Isla Mujeres is blessedly an all-suite property.
The rooms

With 123 total accommodations on the property (which feels nicely spread out, given the overall size of the grounds), the resort offers 12 suite categories, from the base-level Junior Suite King category all the way up to the grand Presidential Suites. I had the pleasure of staying in a Signature Junior Suite Double Ocean Front with Mayan Tub, which felt incredibly spacious at 764 square feet.

The room’s design and layout felt intentional and fittingly serene, given the tranquil vibes throughout the resort. An arched hallway led to the primary bedroom area, replete with neutral tones and natural materials (like stone walls and woven textiles). Soft lighting, reminiscent of the atmospheric lighting in the open-air lobby, made the space feel especially calming — an ideal setup for a beachside vacation.
I expected the amenities to be over-the-top — this is a luxury all-inclusive resort, after all — but the offerings blew me away more than I anticipated. Impression boasts a generous Endless Privileges program that really goes above and beyond in the in-room amenities department (all included in the nightly rate, of course). Endless Privileges perks include:
- Butler service from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- No set check-in or checkout time (subject to availability)
- Complimentary laundry service (three items per person, per stay)
- In-suite minibar refreshed twice a day, welcome bottle of tequila and in-suite wine cooler stocked with personal favorites
(The full list can be found on the hotel’s website.)

There were welcome treats waiting in the chic seating area, and I was delighted to find a fridge stocked with fresh fruit juice, water, soda and local Mexican beer. There were also five full-size bottles of liquor, including tequila, whiskey and vodka. A small Nespresso machine meant coffee was just the click of a button away, and there was even a wine cooler with several bottles chilling upon arrival. Snacks, too, were stored in the cupboard next to the minifridge.
The tranquility of the bedroom continued into the bathroom, which featured thoughtful touches like incense, facial mist and bug repellent, in addition to sultry lighting, fluffy towels, a beautiful stone-and-glass shower with a rainfall showerhead, and Le Labo bath products.

Out on the terrace, partially covered with wooden slats that let just enough sunshine through, the soaking tub (which can go from cool to hot water, depending on your preference) was my favorite place to be. This space felt private, thanks to large stone walls on each side, separating you from neighboring guests, and lush trees in front — but, to my delight, there was still a view if you stood by the edge, with the tiered infinity pools visible to the right and the glimmering ocean stretched out beyond.

Dining and drinks at Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets
Having not had many experiences at all-inclusive resorts before this, I felt uncertain about what to expect in terms of cuisine — but I’d heard from colleagues that the Impression brand excels in this department, and I can confirm that the reputation is well deserved. With seven restaurants and five lively bars, it’s safe to say that the dining options are so plentiful that you may not even have time to try them all out.

While I had the chance to sample a few different restaurants, I felt that the Mexican cuisine was by far the most delicious offering. But the other options were impressive, too — here’s what I tried at Impression Isla Mujeres:
Spezia

Spezia offers a seasonal menu of Italian cuisine. Here, we enjoyed the expertly crafted pizza diavola with mozzarella, serrano pepper and spicy salami. We also tried a delicious beef carpaccio with fresh arugula and large slices of delightfully nutty Parmesan. The restaurant sits on a terrace facing the ocean, so there’s a refreshing breeze, and the plentiful candlelight yields a particularly romantic vibe.
La Vista

La Vista, which serves Mexican cuisine, also boasts a terrace location with striking ocean views that pair beautifully with the authentic Mexican menu. This was by far my favorite restaurant, and I enjoyed dishes such as fresh ceviche, fish tacos and “trilogy of sopes,” which are small corn cakes with seasoned savory toppings like beans, chicken and beef.
Wildfire Grill

At Wildfire Grill, a spacious and moodily lit steakhouse, we had the privilege of enjoying a private dinner in the wine cellar, which I’d highly recommend for a romantic occasion. Everything I tried was exactly what I’d want at a steakhouse: succulent grilled vegetables, generous pours of wine from an extensive wine list and, of course, beautiful cuts of steak grilled to perfection.
Unik the Kitchen

At Unik, guests take the elevator up to the rooftop space (which also features an infinity pool, a bar and plenty of seating), where the views are plentiful and the food is fresh. By day, Unik serves breakfast first, then light tapas like ceviche (my personal favorite) and guacamole. As the sun sets, dinner service offers a globally inspired a la carte menu, set against the backdrop of a live DJ under the stars.
Amenities and things to do

There is a true panoply of both included amenities and other ways to spend time at Impression Isla Mujeres. These are a few that stand out:
- Pure Spa offers massages, facials, access to hydrotherapy (including a traditional hammam), salon services and more.
- Guests can expect a complimentary 20-minute wellness experience per person, per stay.
- Afternoon tea service is available daily from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- There are plenty of planned activities throughout the day, from performances to classes and even tequila tastings.
- The on-site gym features plenty of cardio equipment, weights for lifting and space for yoga and stretching.
- The rooftop features a restaurant (Unik) as well as an open-air bar and an infinity pool that runs the length of the building, offering arguably the best views on the island.
- In terms of water access, guests can enjoy the main infinity pool (which features a swim-up bar), a rooftop infinity pool, a large hot tub pool and direct ocean access from the beach and docks. Loungers are plentiful, and the resort provides sunscreen and fresh towels at all swimming areas.
Accessibility

Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets offers wheelchair-accessible entrances, hallways and elevators.
Accessible rooms feature visual alarms, grab rails in showers, and lowered switches and outlets. I did not notice pool lifts at any of the resort’s pools.
As always, we recommend that you call the resort before booking to ensure that it meets your needs.

Checking out

As a hotel editor with little experience in the world of all-inclusive resorts, I can say that Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets set the bar high — very high. You won’t find watered-down cocktails or unimaginative buffet-style food here; rather, the resort staff ensures that the quality of food and drinks is consistently high. And beyond that, the service was impeccable, beginning with the incredibly friendly staff at the check-in desk and extending to our wonderful personal butlers as well as the restaurants, bars and common spaces.
All this to say: If this is what all-inclusive vacationing can be like, then I get the hype. For those in search of an ultrarelaxing getaway where you really don’t have to think about much of anything (other than reapplying sunscreen and deciding which restaurant to try each night), Impression Isla Mujeres is well worth your World of Hyatt points.
