The moment the audience saw Diane Keaton’s dreamy house in the iconic film “Something’s Gotta Give,” a timeless aesthetic was born. The neutral tones, that light-and-airy kitchen and, of course, the enviable beachfront location made this space practically the third star of the film after Keaton and Jack Nicholson.
Flash-forward 20-plus years, and the coastal design dream — led by the film’s director Nancy Meyers, who amassed a following for the luxe-meets-comfortable home vibes in her other movies like “The Parent Trap” and “The Holiday” — inspires the masses.
These days, millennials and Gen Zers are vying for the life of the coast without paying for a full home remodel. There are dozens of hotels around the country where abundant white linens, clean lines and midcentury modern furniture come standard, and the sound of the ocean lulls you to sleep every night.
We dug deep and found the best coastal hotels that give those Meyers-esque vibes. At these properties, you can live out your bougie seaside dreams — and maybe even gather design inspiration for your next home renovation.

It’s a city hotel with the vibe of a mountain lodge, featuring in-room gas fireplaces, private balconies in over-water rooms, and exposed wood, leather and plaid accents.
On-site amenities include Six Seven — named after the pier, not the meme — a restaurant serving locally sourced seafood and other Pacific Northwest favorites. Under Canvas Acadia — Surry, Maine

Under Canvas is a glamping company that has a deep partnership with Hyatt. You’ll be sleeping in a tent, but that’s where the camping similarities end. That puts the best of the park within easy reach: sunrise from the top of Cadillac Mountain, miles of hiking through pink-granite peaks and spruce forest and a picturesque rugged coastline. And if you’re there for the coastline, the camp sits on 100 acres with 1,200 feet of its own shoreline.
